この度、Feb gallery Tokyo は +DA.YO.NE キュレーションによるアーティストLotta の個展『百怪夜行 - DUSK TILL DAWN』を開催いたします。

「彼女が描いた作品を見た時、僕の頭の中で既視感のある映画のストーリーが浮かんできた。もちろんそんな映画やストーリーなんて存在しないにもかかわらずだ。作品の中でさまざまな表情を見せるソックスの行動や性格まではっきりと浮かんできた。描かれるその世界観はまさに今だ。だけど何故だろう。記憶の中に刷り込まれる新しさと忘れていたはずの記憶から蘇る懐かしさ。二律背反な気分から湧き上がる感動。こんな気持ち彼女の作品に出会うまで味わったことなかった。その理由などどうでもいい。感動をもっと味わっていけばいいのだ」--- 米原康正
これまでも数々の個展を開催してきたLotta。本展『百怪夜行』では大型キャンバスを含む新作13点程を展示する。サブタイトルは「DUSK TILL DAWN（ダスク・ティル・ドーン）」。日没から明け方までの時間を指しており「暗い夜もじきに明ける」という現状に対する前向きな気持ちを込めた。先の見えない暗闇の中でも賑やかに集うことで光を生むフシギな『存在』達の百怪夜行をお楽しみに。
Feb gallery Tokyo is pleased to present the solo exhibition, “HyakkeYako - DUSK TILL DAWN -” by an artist, Lotta curated by +DA.YO.NE.

" When I first saw her painting, a story like a scene from a movie I saw before came to my mind. Even though such a movie or a story dose not actually exist. However, I could almost see clearly the motivation of actions and the unique personality from various expressions of “Socks”. The world view that is painted down on the canvas is exactly about NOW. But I don’t know why I get these feelings of nostalgia resurrected from my memory, and at the same time, this feeling of the newness inserted into my mind. Through this feeling of self contradiction, the great excitement arises inside of me. I have never felt this way until I encountered her painting. Never mind the reason why anymore. Lotta has held numerous solo exhibitions. The theme of this exhibition “HyakkeYako” means “monsters, ghost, spirits, etc. forming a line and walking from the dusk till dawn”. In this exhibition, about 13 new works including large canvases will be displayed. The subtitle is DUSK TILL DAWN. "There is no night that does not end." says Lotta. Here, under the current situation of pandemic, Lotta expresses her positive feeling, looking at the bright side. Facing the unseeable near-future, living or non-living "existence" produces the source of lights by gathering lively in the long long night. Please look forward to the night parade of HyakkeYako!

1993年生まれ。独学で絵を描いていたLottaは、2017年から東京を拠点にアーティストとして本格的に活動をはじめた。初期は水墨画の手法を用いて制作。現在は線画・アクリル画を主に制作している。2020年に生み出したオリジナルキャラクター、ゴーストキャット（猫の亡霊）の「Socks（ソックス）」を中心に描く作品群は、Lottaの脳内に住むキャラクター達の物語を具現化しており、時にはLotta自身を投影するセルフポートレートにもなる。
Lottaは幼少期に観ていた欧米のカートゥーンや、日本のアニメーションから強く影響を受けており、その作風は多くの人の『懐かしい』に触れる。「変態的に音が好き」と語るLottaが描く生き物や静物は、反応・動作・質感を明確に捉えており、観る者に作品から音が聞こえてくるような臨場感を感じさせる。繊細で抑揚のある線で描かれるキャラクター達はキャンバス上で活き活きと戯れたり、くつろいだり。絵画で切り取られた場面の前後を観る者に想像させる。さらりとしたマットな質感とあどけない曲線の歪な関係性は、じわじわと観る者を誘惑する。さらりとした質感とあどけなさの共存による中毒性の高さこそLotta作品の魅力なのだ。また、タトゥーデザインやアパレルブランドとのコラボレーション、ライブペイントなど多岐に渡る活動を展開しており、そこで存分に発揮されるデザイン性と偶発性は絵画作品と共鳴し、独立した作品世界をつくり上げている。
Born in 1993 Lotta is a self-taught painter, and started her career as an artist in 2017 based in Tokyo. In the early days of her career, she focused on ink paintings. Currently, she has been working on line drawings and acrylic paintings. In 2020, Lotta created her original character, “Socks”, a ghost cat. Socks has now become the significant figure within her works, embodying the stories living in Lotta's head and sometimes becoming a self-portrait projecting Lotta herself.
Lotta has been strongly influenced by western cartoons and Japanese animation she watched in her childhood which leads to her current style of drawing and painting that creates the impression of "nostalgic" that many people can empathize with.
Also, Lotta's obsession with the idea of "sound" has a strong impact on her artworks. The creatures and still lifes she draws/paints are accurately captured by the moment of their reaction and their movements. This gives a sense of realistic sensation that the "sounds" of these moments in her paintings can be vividly imagined and almost heard by the observer. The characters drawn with delicately modulated lines play lively on the canvas and let the viewer imagine the front and back of the scene cut out by the painting.
Within Lotta's work, there is a strangely satisfying coexistence between the matt(e) smooth textures painted carefully and the genuine curves drawn playfully. This relations between the texture and the curves are highly addictive, and that is one of the remarkable characteristics of her work.
Lotta has been developing a wide range of activities including tattoo designs, collaborations with apparel brands, live-painting, and so on. Her sense in design and in the spontaneous impulsiveness resonates with her artworks, building up her own individuality.

アーティストであり編集者である * 米原康正 が立ち上げたジャンルにこだわらないコラボ専門のブランド。彼の名前が入っているのはもちろん、コラボさせるものを全てプラス方向に向かわせたい等いろんな意味を含んでいる。コラボとは彼のキュレーションを指す言葉で、選ぶものも選ばれるものも対等な立場であるということを意味する。2019年の立ち上げ以来毎月２回のペースで個展やグループ展を開催している。
+DA.YO.NE is a brand that manages various genre of collaboration created by Yasumasa Yonehara who’s known as both an artist and an editor. The name, “+DA.YO.NE” derives from Yasuhara Yonehara’s nickname “YONE”, and “+” symbolizes that every collaboration he handles goes forward to the direction of “PLUS”. Collaboration means “part to choose and part to be chosen are on an equal footing” which applies to YONE’s curating style. Since 2019, +DA.YO.NE has been holding exhibitions and group shows twice every month.

東京ストリートな女子文化から影響を受けたその作品は、雑誌などメディアの形をして表現されることが多く、90年代以降の女子アンダーグランドカルチャーの扇動者でもある。編集者、アーティスト、キュレーターなどさまざまな顔を持ち、1月28日発売のNumero TOKYOでは米原康正の活動が30ページで特集された。中国のSNS、ウェイボで280万人のフォロワーを持つ。
His works are inspired by the girls' street culture in Tokyo, and it can often be expressed through the media like magazines. He is the key person to bring the spot light onto the underground girls culture since 1990’s. He has various faces such as an editor, an artist, a curator etc. In 2022, January issue of Numero Tokyo had 30 pages long featuring his career. He's been active not only in Japan but also in China where he has 2800000 followers on “Weibo”, the Chinese SNS.
